Horse Pet Portrait – Radley in Oils on Canvas
This beautiful horse portrait of **Radley** came to life after a heartfelt email from our client Richard. He wanted to surprise his wife with a painting of her beloved horse, who had recently passed away. Richard wasn’t sure if the available photos would be good enough, but we knew we had to make it happen. Read on to see how it all unfolded...

The Commission of Radley
Richard contacted us not long after **Radley** had sadly passed, asking if a portrait might be possible from a limited selection of photos. He wanted to present it as a birthday gift to his wife **Mandy**. One photo stood out as a good fit: a lovely close-up of Radley being ridden, which Nicholas used as the basis for the painting.
To recreate Radley’s environment, Nicholas painted a light springtime field and blue sky behind him—symbolic of the peaceful place he lived and was loved. The painting was completed at 16 x 12 inches in oils on Italian linen canvas.

Client Testimonial – Mandy
“I just wanted to write and thank you both for bringing my beautiful horse Radley back to life again for me. I opened the gift from Richie yesterday and was overwhelmed with emotion. Nicholas captured Radley's character in a way I didn't think was possible in a painting.
Radley was a horse I had longed for since I was a little girl and finding him was a dream come true. Saying goodbye was one of the hardest moments of my life. His memory will forever be etched in my mind, but now I get to look at him every day and see the gentleman amongst horses that he was.”
Thank you. Through your incredible talent, Richie has given me a gift I will cherish forever.”
