Happy Client letters and emails sent from 1994
We have received so many wonderful emails and letters from our clients over the years, right back from 1994 when we started. We weren't doing the volume of portraits right from the start that we are now but they certainly have build up over the years. I have hand typed out and copied some emails here. Sadly in the early days we didn't take photos of copies of our work. It is very sad that we were unable to take copies as there are many portraits we will never see again. Thankfully now we have the facilities to scan artwork, so every single piece archived. Its much easier these days with technology. I will always cherish those hand written letters of thanks though, which seems to be quite a thing of the passed these days with email! I hope you enjoy reading these letters.

Dear Melanie,
At 1.10 yesterday, Sunday the 15th of August, with fourteen members of the family present, I presented my dear wife with the portrait of Rosa. Up until that moment my daughter Alison had been the only person to see the portrait, and I at least was more than interested and curious to see the result of your work. (The rest of the family had no idea what lay behind the layers of packaging!) All present were, to say the least, most delighted to see for the first time a portrait of an animal that they all knew and the comment was thats Rosa. The thesaurus describes beautiful as ravishing, gorgeous, stunning, alluring, lovely, handsome, appealing, graceful, exquisite, winsome and charming. All in my opinion apply to the portrait. May I thank you most sincerely for delivering a portrait that is quite lovely. I was almost in tears when I saw it, silly perhaps, but such is the power of emotion. You have indeed (everyone here agrees) captured the essence o f our dog and I thank you very much for doing so. May your success as a portrait painter go from strength to strength. Yours Sincerely,

Just wanted to say a big thank you for the amazing portrait of Jake. It was a difficult decision for me when deciding whom to do Jakes portrait. Looking through artists portfolios is a help, but unless you know the animals it is difficult to tell how good the portrait is. I am actually a difficult person to please, if I am honest, but I am absolutely over the moon with it. When I look at the portrait I see ‘Jake’ not any cocker spaniel. I don't know how you do it but did you realise that Patch's eyes follow you when you move about the room and its almost as if his face turns too? Firstly thank you very much for both for the picture of Cleo and Clemmie, they are exquisite and they have both been extremely successful. Everyone who has seen then two drawing has said how incredibly like Cleo and Clemmie they are, you have managed to capture their character in both drawings. The Clemmie one is just wonderful you have managed to do exactly what I wanted and the final looks is absolutely perfect, I cant thank you enough. Both George and my mother are over the moon with their present. I have also passed on your detail for someone already that was so impressed with the drawing so hopefully you might get some more business. George and I will probably get in touch again sometime as our best man has a spaniel too Clemmies father, who is getting on a bit and it would be wonderful for him to have something to remember him by. When I saw it words didnt come Just tears, Im sure my father will love it, as it is a Christmas gift for him. I cant get over how lovely it is. Charlie is only 10 months old; he is my dads dog. We had him when he was only 12 weeks. He is just a little baby so loving. We all love him to bits. When he was three months old he fell form a chair and broke his leg. We all thought we would loose him, but he pulled through thank goodness. Hi Melanie,
Wow!!Wallis (actually a girl, but she was so big a powerful that it is easy to be fooled) looks absolutely wonderful! The picture captures her extremely well, and "dark" you were worried about is exactly her colouring. Jet Black, and a lustrous sheen to her coat!The bit that is so impressive is the way you have captured her eyes. She had this absolutely piercing stare, which scared the daylights out of people who didn't know how gentle she really was. Anne is going to be absolutely delighted with your wonderful rendition of her "little" girl, thank you so much Once again, thanks so much for such a wonderful portrait of our regal lady.

Anne wrote to me after Christmas and this is a snippet from her letter she sent I must tell you what happened when the portrait went on the wall. When Toby our RSPCA rescue boxer who shared Wallis last year with us they were best buddies caught sight of it, he went into hyper-alert mode, jumped up and walked over to it. He then stood for what seemed like a long time just staring at the portrait and talking to it low growls and little barks. They say dogs do not see photographs and tv screens – I now know that they do! Other things have gone on the wall that he has not shown the slightest interest in, but this was his friend and he most definitely recognises her. Anne |

Please accept my sincere thanks for a truly fantastic portrait. My family were astounded at how well you have captured Feebee's look and colouring a true 'work of art' in every sense. The portrait will be framed and a copy of the original photograph as well as copies of your stages of painting it ( I have downloaded them from your website, I hope you have no objection, please let me know if that is breach of copyright or something) and Feebee's pedigree etc included behind so that future generations will know its significance and history, as it will no doubt be a family heirloom and part of family history. A few comments for the drawing:
When we had seen what the oil painting of our precious Jay was like, we had to capture her in another pose, so we decided to go for a coloured pencil drawing.
She looks so beautiful and gorgeous it is like she is actually oozing out of the drawing! It is so soft and gentle showing that she was and always will be one in a million to us, our best and most loving friend Jay. Thank you so much. Jay would of liked you.

We have a frame shop on the side and will be framing it ourselves. I am thinking of doing something that looks like driftwood to keep the beachy theme but that may change as I see all the available frames.
