Pet Portraits Case Study
|
Our Case Study page has been designed to give a quick visual overview of the process of ordering a pet portrait. This example is based on a commission from 2006 for an oil portrait of Jess. Mrs Jarrett gave us a basic run down of what she was looking for "....I have been browsing your site with a view to commissioning an oil on canvas portrait of one of our golden retrievers for my husband's 60th birthday. I am also trying to keep this a secret from my husband and will send you photos on cd...." |

Your Photos
We like to see a range of photos to get an overall idea of the size, colouring, coat texture of your pet, however we usually work from one single photo for the main pose. As you can see here we chose this photo of Jess side, it was a lovely clear, high resolution photo. Good quality photos are imperative. If you have more than one pet you would like us to paint we prefer to see single photos of each pet along with a few of them together to see the size differences between them. The Composite
Composites help visualize the final painting, using photo editing software, we can place the animal in a different scene or on a neutral background and as you can see on the photo left we did just this with Jess. For this commission we produced 8 composites for our client to choose from, here's a snippet of Mrs Jarrett's email."We very much like number 5 composite, and will go with your recommendation. I would also like you to paint Jess without her collar showing - and I now notice that the fur on her chest is grubby!! Oooops." |
Payment
Once the client is happy with the composite payment can be made very simply on our website in our Pet Portraits Shop using either our secure payment provider RBSWorldpay or Paypal. The majority of commissions are paid in full, however larger portraits can be paid with a deposit of half. The remainder to be paid when we start the portrait. All payment must be cleared before we start. |
 |
|
Step by Step Progress
As soon as clients have made payment, your photo/composite will be added to our list of clients on our 'on the easel blogs' You can watch your portrait rise to the top in our clients lists, we work on a first come first served basis. If you have a specific deadline just let us know and we can arrange a gift voucher to be sent if we are unable to meet your required date. All clients are able to watch their portraits develop on our work in progress blog and can comment at any time. |
 |
The Final Scan
Every customer is emailed a high res watermarked final scan or photograph of their portrait so they can make sure everything is correct.
If clients feel they need any changes or alterations made, we are more than happy to do this for them.
