I would like to commission a portrait, what's my first step?
We would recommend reading our 'Live Commission' guide and once you have done this, why not email us your photos so that we can start the ball rolling.
|
Do you work from photos or real life?
We always work from photos and return any hard copies with the finished artwork. Sending your photographs via email is the safest option and quickest. If you are sending digital images, please send them in a jpeg format at the highest resolution you have them
|
What size images shall I email and how many should I send?
We like to see the image at the size it came from your digital camera. Often when photos are emailed, they are resized by the software. If this is the case, send only a few at a time, and try to override the 'reduce photo size setting'. This should insure we receive the original size photo from the camera. The more photographs you can send the better. We work from one main photograph for all subjects, however we do like to have others to refer to. It would be great if you could indicate which photograph best represents your pet, and which you would like us to work from. Also let us know which depicts his/her true colouring.
|
What quality of photograph do you need?
The better the quality of photograph, then the better the finished painting or drawing will be. Photographs should be clear, in focus with the subject occupying the majority of the frame. Photographs showing subjects in the distance aren't usually good enough to work from.

What are the differences between Oils and Pencils
We create portraits in pencil and oils. Our oil paintings are full colour paintings, painted using a brush on canvas and don't need to be framed under glass. Pencil drawings are hand drawn, black and white (greyscale) drawings on specialist paper using professional artists graphite pencils and do need to be framed under glass. We have a page which shows our bespoke hand made Italian and French linen canvases - Pet Portrait Canvases far superior to your every day average canvas.
