Pet Portrait Painting Information
Julian (UK) contacted us in 2009 to see if we would be able to paint their friends rabbits called Molly and Cecil from some photos they had surreptitiously acquired from their friends. It was to be a surprise gift and so Julian arranged everything without their knowledge. As soon as they saw the final portrait they were thrilled as you can read in Julian's emails below. The portrait was painted in oils on linen canvas 20 x 16 size and you can see some of the stages of the portrait, a final scan and detail along with the reference photos I used. I hope you enjoy this page of information and if you would like to commission us to paint your pet don't hesitate to email us at any time.
The Pet Portrait Painting in Progress....
Photos are taken during the progress of the portrait in our studio. The lighting can change throughout the day which can account for colour differences between each stage.

Client Pet Portraits Reference Photos
The photos depicted below may vary in colour to the finished painting above. This can be due to the scanned oil painting being slightly different to the original or often clients give us more than one photo to work from i.e. one for the pose and another for colouring.

Client Testimonial
Hi Melanie
I forwarded the picture and video to Ruth and David and then called them on the phone. The only comment that I got was ………………WOW!!! That is a very big compliment from them. I think the painting is beautiful. Thank you very much. Can’t wait for the finished article, Kind Regards Julian Shields

Hi Melanie
Many thanks for the explanation. It all makes very good sense.
Upon receipt of your email, I took the painting to our friends last night and they think it is absolutely wonderful. There was many tears and hugs etc. Thank you so much for the way that you have looked after us and for your patience. I am still amazed that you produced such brilliant results from the photos we sent. I will be recommending your website and you wherever possible. My friends intend to have the picture framed ASAP. When it is in place they will take a photo of it and send it to you.
Once again many thanks for the lovely picture
Kind Regards
Julian Shields
