Pet Portrait Painting Information
Christy commissioned me to paint Holly from the United States, for her son and family in 2009. They had one particular photo of Holly that they felt really captured him well as sadly Holly was not longer with us. As you can see from the reference photos below, quite a bit needed to be changed about the photo, the ear needed to be changed and a blanket added in place of the t-shirt. The painting was completed on a 16 x 12 cotton canvas in oils, framed under glass. I have added some stages of the portrait, a final scan of Holly along with a detail and of course the reference photos I used when painting the portrait. I have also enclosed a couple of emails Christy sent during and after the commission along with some wonderful photos of the final painting framed when it was given to her son. I hope you enjoy this page of information and if you would like to commission us to paint your pet don't hesitate to email us at any time.
The Pet Portrait Painting in Progress....
Photos are taken during the progress of the portrait in our studio. The lighting can change throughout the day which can account for colour differences between each stage.

Client Pet Portraits Reference Photos
The photos depicted below may vary in colour to the finished painting above. This can be due to the scanned oil painting being slightly different to the original or often clients give us more than one photo to work from i.e. one for the pose and another for colouring.

Client Testimonial
Hi Melanie, I just wanted to tell you that everyone here that has seen your portrait of Holly loves it! It makes me sad to see him, I feel like I could reach out and touch him. We are so excited to give it to Justin ( my brother). Now my family is talking about portraits of all of our other pets...there are a lot of them. Thank you so much, Christy

Hi Melanie, IT'S HERE! It is even prettier than the photos online. Everything was in good order, we are ending up taking it to my brothers house in Sacramento. I'll send pics as soon as I get them on my pc. Thank you so much, I'm sure you will hear from our family in the future. Christy
