Pet Portrait Painting Information

Winston and Daisy were a pleasure to paint. Karen's sister, purchased a pet portraits gift voucher for Karen's birthday so that Winston and Daisy could be immortalized on canvas. The portrait was painted in 2009, for the family in America, in oils on canvas and I have collated a full page of images and information here for you to view. It starts off with some stages of the portrait in the painting process, a final scan and two close up images of each of the dogs. Then we have a really lovely testimonial from Karen along with the reference photos she sent for us to work with. We had the portrait framed in a gorgeous silver frame and I have added photos including one of the backing paper which is exquisite. Finally Karen took some photos of Winston and Daisy with the painting when it arrived to their home in the US and the final photo of Winston really makes smile. Winston looks as though he is having a good old laugh at himself in the painting. Scroll right down the page to see : ) I hope you enjoy this page of information and if you would like to commission us to paint your pet don't hesitate to email us at any time.

The Pet Portrait Painting in Progress....

Photos are taken during the progress of the portrait in our studio. The lighting can change throughout the day which can account for colour differences between each stage.

Client Pet Portraits Reference Photos
The photos depicted below may vary in colour to the finished painting above. This can be due to the scanned oil painting being slightly different to the original or often clients give us more than one photo to work from i.e. one for the pose and another for colouring.

Client Testimonial

Hi Melanie,

I wanted to let you know that your painting arrived in perfect condition, and we absolutely love it! I admit I let it sit for a day or so until me, my husband and my mom (and the dog children) could open it together. Many oohs & ahhs. I can't thank you enough for all the heart and talent you put into their portrait. Looking at it up close, your brushwork, use of color and understanding of dog anatomy is amazing.

More importantly, you've captured their expressions and personalities perfectly. (They should only look so sleek & well-groomed in person.) It's an artwork that I'll treasure forever, thanks to my sister's generosity. My entire family sends our heartfelt thanks!

I've hung it in the living room where we walk by it several times a day, and it never fails to bring a smile to my face. You are so talented, and your work brings such pleasure to those of us lucky enough to own one of your pieces. I promise to send photos of my dogs with their portrait once the weather clears up. I want to stage it out in the back yard where the original photo was taken, but it's been raining all week here.

I also have to mention how happy I am with the framing, and I think it's a valuable addition to your line. Now the painting is truly finished, ready to hang the moment it arrived. Your choice of frame is perfect to harmonize with off the tones in the artwork. Special thanks to your framer -- the workmanship is perfect, and I love the fleur de lis paper on the back! A touch of Florence, yes? (I'm guessing he used an Italian paper from Florence.)

Thanks again for an absolutely smashing job!
