Oil Paintings by Melanie Phillips - Gallery 3
How do I know if im purchasing a portrait from an agency and what does this mean?
When you view a pet portrait website if you are unable to find information about the individual artist, either a biography, an about me section, or anything to say who the artists is, then you are most probably looking at an agency website. There are many on the Internet and the lure of these sites is that their paintings are extremely cheap. You can probably get a painting of your pet for a fraction of the price of an established artist.
The reason being is that a middle man will employ the services of possibly a chinese artist, pay them a miniscule amount and reap the rewards. Whether you feel this is good or bad, the possibility that your pets photo will be repainted again and again by these artists to sell in galleries around the world and on Ebay is inevitable. I have seen it done. So if you want a unique one off portrait always purchase from an artist who provides information on where they live, how long they have been painting, a photo of their studio or themselves and information about them and their background.

A new set of photos were taken and Sandy was completed in time for his wife’s birthday. They were absolutely delighted with the results and thanked me personally.
