Oil Pet Portraits by Melanie Phillips - Gallery 1
Welcome to my Oil on canvas Pet Portraits Gallery. All of the portraits you see on the next few pages are previous commissions. I have been painting portraits for many years and so i am unable to fit all of my previous work on here so this is only a handful of my paintings. On average I paint between 40 to 50 oil paintings per year for clients. They are exquisite pieces of art which are in demand so I have a list of clients throughout the year. If you are interested in commissioning one of my oils, and you are looking to purchase for a special occasion do contact me as soon as possible.
All of my oil portraits are traditionally hand painted. There is no trickery involved in the process, i sit at my easel, in my studio, and start with a with a blank canvas and produce a painting of your pet just like the old masters. It takes many hours of work to complete a piece which is why an oil portrait is not purchased on a whim. Each painting takes up many hours of my life and a part of me goes with every piece.
if you would like to read more about my oil paintings and learn about the process visit each gallery in turn, enjoy the paintings and continue reading the information at the top of the page - visit gallery 2. |

"Cadbury" Chocolate Lab Oils On Canvas 24 x 18
Deborah Risbridger emailed me a beautiful photo of Cadbury, a chocolate labrador puppy, as she wanted a portrait of her friends dog for their wedding present an this is the results. Debbie told me the couple had a very modern house, so it needed to fit in well with their décor. I decided to keep a modern feel by almost painting the entire portrait in a limited pallet. This means that I would only be using the colours of the dog and the same tones and hues in the background. Click on each thumbnail to view a larger version and detail. |
