Troed Rhiw Fallen

Troed Rhiw Fallen is a small, but beautiful thatched cottage in mid West Wales, tucked into the side of a little village in a peaceful and rural location. We spent a few days here in April 2009 for Nicks birthday and it again was a perfect getaway. The cottage was restored a few years ago and was featured on TV in a restoration program by Grif Rhys Jones. (uk presenter and comedian)

The name Troed Rhiw Fallen translated is The Foot of the Apple Tree, and it dates back to the 1750's Its thatch has been lovingly restored and you can see from our photos below, you can study every inch of the thatch inside, which is fascinating! If you are scared of spiders its not one to go to as they could well be hiding in the thatch!

The cottage was really warm, the thatch does a good job of keeping the heat in and because you sleep in the crog loft, right under the thatch in the four poster bed you wont be cold. We had a wonderful break here, there are lovely walk, we saw an eel in the stream and the cardigan coast is only a short drive away. If you are interested in old houses like we are, its a must, nick has a great birthday : )
