Our Pets!
We have quite a few pets, some are at the farm and a few live with us at the cottage. We have some chickens in the garden for eggs and a cat called Amram. He is quite a naughty character and is always getting into mischief. You can see a photo of him sleeping below.
I have had many chickens over the years, lost quite a few along the way from old age as I often use to rescue them when family's had them and couldn't look after them anymore. Chickens live for a long time if well cared for and so there were many people who just didn't want their hens any longer. They always had a home with us. We even had some chickens and guinea fowl abandoned by someone who shoved them through our fence. The mentality of some people.
We don't have room to keep them all at the cottage so the majority of them live back at the farm and I have a few of my favorite breeds in the garden. Left is my oldest hen Mildred. She is a very independent and stubborn hen but makes a good mother. She doesn't lay much now though. The next in line is my partridge Cochin Bantam Hen and my partridge Pekin Bantam Cockerel. I hatched them from the eggs of hens belonging to my Grandfather as he also keeps chickens in his garden, they are very tame and are only 3 years old.
