Young Artists Course One by Melanie Phillips

Written & Tutored by Melanie Phillips (The London Art College)

Welcome to the Young Artist Course One, which is written, illustrated and tutored by myself, in association with the London Art College. The first course has been designed for budding artists from the age of 7. It gives the young artist the information they need to create a three dimensional drawing of an object, noting the light and shade, allowing them to shade the object within its contours and draw its shadow too. We also deal with perspective, drawing shapes, lettering, imagination and it introduces colour too. The most important thing is its all done in a fun way! The course is splashed with lots of colour and fun illustrations and keeps the young artist captivated throughout the course with ideas and things to do and draw. Below are some example images from the course and also some screen captured from it too.

Distance learning is very flexible especially for children who are home educated and anyone can enroll worldwide at any time. The courses can be worked around the child's everyday schedule - there are no deadlines or time limits. I will be their personal tutor and help them every step of the way to become an accomplished young artist.

On enrolment the student will receive a a fully illustrated printed course folder with assignments at the end of each section. Students can work through the course until they reach the exercises and they can either send work electronically or in the Mail. Students who send work electronically via the London Art College Website will receive an Audio/Video critique showing amendments on the artwork digitally. Each student is able to login to their own personal secure area in the 'Artwork Submission Area', and their critique will be uploaded for the student to access at any time. They can then download and listen/watch the video in Windows Media Player. An example of an audio and visual critique can be played below.

Students who send work through the postal system will receive an audio critique on cd playable on any cd based audio system - ie a stereo system, DVD player or personal computer.
