Shelties Pet Portraits
Here are examples of three commissions of Shelties I have completed in oils on canvas. Shelties are suitable for all mediums, particularly oils and pastel because of the soft qualities of the paint and pastel, it really captures their fur well.
The colours and tones in Shelties coats are wonderful and many variations of colours or backdrops can be used for backgrounds in oils or Pastel.
Their colouring goes particularly well with grass and evening settings, as you can see the portrait below is just such a painting. The photographic reference was taken in the evening light so capturing this in the painting as well as the dog creates a wonderful feeling in the portrait.
