I have been bought up with sheep dogs all my life, we had them when I was growing up on my parents small farm, so I feel I know them well. Ours were never really working sheepdogs, they tended to do their own thing while trying to round up the sheep at the same time!
They were great family pets and full of bounding energy. Both Nick and myself are are experienced in the knowledge of how collies move as we have had one of our own. We understand their stance and their typical poses. Its always a great pleasure to be asked to paint a collie. Every collie is unique.
Personality and character are so important as they have such expressive faces. The oil portraits are painted by myself (melanie0 and the two head studies in pastels on the left are drawn by Nick.
