Beagle Pet Portraits
I have painted a few Beagle pet portraits over the years and here are examples of three commissions I have undertaken in oils on canvas. Oils are the perfect medium to portray both their coat and their colouring.
The aim is to keep the muzzle area really nice and soft so that the viewer can almost feel the velvety feel of the coat just by looking at the portrait. Beagles have wonderful expressive faces, particularly with their soft warm colours in their coat. I prefer to use dark backgrounds as this brings out the colours in the coat and helps to enhance the eyes.
