Here is the final scan of Jess, a pencil portrait I have been working on. I hope to be sending it off to the client next week. Its a 10 x 10 graphite pencil portrait.

I will be starting the 4 lovely Jack Russells next and I will add some stages as I go as this one is a large portrait with lots of work so I hope to have stages next week.

Nick has started the portrait of Bella on the beach and I will add the first stages of it tomorrow!

Pencil Portraits by Melanie. This is Jess 10 x 10 portrait in graphite pencil.

A number of years ago some lovely cleints of ours commisioned me to draw the heads of all the dogs they had rescued over the years. I left spaces around the edge of the paper as they knew they would want more portraits drawn on the montage as they were in no doubt that they would be rescuing more dogs.

So last August our clients visited our cottage so we could take photos of their new bunch – 5 more gorgeous and very happy rescues and I drew and sent the portrait back a few weeks ago. The client has now had the portrait mounted and framed and has sent two lovely photos which I have added below. I also drew the coloured pencil portrait next to it too!

Sadly they have recently lost their gorgeous toy poodle called Levi which you can see bottom right of the portrait…..but they now have another rescue they are going to keep. Looks like we probably should start another montage in the near future! : )

Here is the final scan of Tess and Kenny! I have added two close ups below so you can see it in more detail. I’m not 100% sure if the colour is showing correctly as I’m actually using a different monitor at the moment (all will be revealed of our studio antics in the coming weeks) but hopefully its giving the right impression. This will be definitely one for the website on my next round of updates and we hope that the clients are thrilled.

Here are the nearing final stages of Tess and Kenny and it really is looking stunning here in the studio. I don’t think the camera is picking up all the fantastic detail particuarly in the collars. There has been a lot of work gone into this portrait, its taking a little longer than expected but it really is worth while as its going to be a stunning one when its complete.

Nick has high standards and when reflecting on how long each individual portraits takes, it really comes down to – they take as long as they need. Every portrait that we produce has to be the highest possible standard.

As some of you may have noticed Nicks client list is quite long now, its difficult to say but we are taking bookings for around about August 2012 and I am just about to book a Christmas portrait too. So if you are contemplating on booking Nick to produce a portrait for you for a special date within the next few months we can offer gift vouchers and my advice would be book a space in our client list asap!
