Pet Portraits Framed
As you may recognise this portrait from about a week ago, this is a pastel of a spaniel I completed for some clients for Christmas. I have now had the portrait framed and Melanie has taken some photos of it for my blog.
Our framer lives up in the mountains in a beautiful rural idyllic house with two Briard dogs and has a framing workshop which we visit from time to time. Mike has been working on some new techniques since we saw him last and Melanie spoke to him yesterday about them, and he has a whole new range of frames available for us to promote. Mike has started creating a unique range of hand finished frames, the kind of thing you can’t buy off the shelf, so that each and every frame is unique for all of our clients. We are pretty excited and will visit him in the New Year to arrange things and I’m sure Melanie will publicize it on the website when they are ready.
The frame below has actually had some hand finishing on it too, Mike worked closely with the colours of the portrait to make sure the moulding matched perfectly with the tones and hues of the dog. I think he has done a superb job and we have sent it off to the client today.

Here you will find up to the minute news from the studio and see the pet portraits we are currently working on. You are more than welcome to contact us at any time!
All of the paintings you see on our blog are commissions from clients worldwide. We traditionally hand paint or draw every pet portrait ourselves. There's no digital trickery involved! We start by drawing out the image by hand and follow on with painting in oils, pastel or in pencil and you can follow each stage we make here on the blog on a daily basis.
