Hi All,

I’m reposting the first stage of this portrait as I had already started it a while ago and i did blog it, however thought it would be nice to repost the first stage along with the other stages. I’m about half way though, I haven’t started the eyes yet, I have created a very soft feel and will now start to pull everything together with the shapes and details. The new canvas I am using is wonderful! Its so soft and silky smooth. Its more costly than the normal canvas but well worth it as its a pleasure to paint on. I will blog the next stages of Missy Rose, she is nearly completed so a final image will be also online soon too.

I am delighted to be able to posts some photos my client took when she handed over the portrait of Chester to her husband on his birthday. They are so fantastic! I have also added them to Chester’s webpage in my oil gallery. My clients quote is below

Chester’s portrait came today.  I am thrilled with it!!  You did an absolutely fabulous job.  It is breathtaking.

Here are the pics of Jim opening his present.  Feel free to post them on your website.  We think we’re going to hang it here at home, but we’re interested in getting some prints of the portrait for Jim’s office and my office at work.  How much do you charge for prints?

We do offer a full print service in both canvas and fine art paper prints and clients can find lots more information about the service in the shopping cart prints section. I’m off to email my clients back now, hope you all have a lovely day!

This is the next stage of Missy Rose, I wanted to keep the background quite muted so that it receded. This is only the undercoat at this stage but its important to give the correct feel right from the start. She is in a bit of a drying stage now,  it will only take a day or so and I will start to work on her coat and features.

As many of you will know who follow my blog regularly, these poor horses have been up and down my client list like yo-yos! They were commissioned last September and the client needed them for their daughters 40th and 41st birthday in October this year, which is only a few weeks away. They didn’t mind as long as they were completed and sent for that month. They were started in May of this year and I had thought that I would be able to complete them to send them before the summer, however they have been in the drying rack all of this time as I have been working on current clients portraits. So finally here they are! I needed to make sure that they were completed together, and I don’t think there is much difference between the two. I worked on them at the same time almost, they were on my easel together so that I could make sure I used the same colours for each.

My next portrait is already started, its the two Labradors, it was started a few weeks ago and I will be going back to that one this week and I have also finished a spaniel for a deadline too which I will post as well. Things are getting busy in the studio and we are very nearly booked for Christmas. I think each year we are booked earlier and earlier.

This is the second stage of Missy Rose, I will now be adding the background!

Hi Everyone,

Its with a little bit of sadness that I write this blog post, I created a portrait of Rhodes a few months ago and it was very well received by the family. They have taken some photos of the portrait along with Rhodes and sent them to me and I have enclosed one of them below. Very sadly the client has found that Rhodes is very poorly and so are going through a difficult time and my best wishes and support goes out to them.

Hi All,

Here’s the first stage of Missy Rose! The canvas has arrived! It arrived yesterday which was good timing really. I will be lining and blocking in over the weekend along with overhauling the London Art College website which I will blog about soon. Enjoy your weeknd!

We have had Sophies portrait framed and its now all packed up safely ready to be sent to America. We are really pleased with the outcome of the frame, we think that it matches Sophies coat well and will look great on the recipients wall. This portrait is a total surprise for the recipient and we are all looking forward to hearing her feedback.

This is the final stage of Sammy and a detail of the portrait, I hope that you like it! We have had a visit from our photographer friend who we have known for many years, its been probably just under 10 years since I was taking my early pet portraits commissions to him to photograph for a record, as we didn’t have the facilities to copy work back then. Over a cup of tea we chatted about taking photos of large oil portrait, the pro and cons and how we can reduce the glare and shine when we photograph them. He gave us some good advice and also lent us a gadget to calibrate our monitors and the monitor with the printer. I have calibrated it, but haven’t done any test prints yet so hopefully everything is calibrated now too, as that can be quite an issue.

The portrait of Sammy is nearly dry, all I need to do is sign it, and its ready. I will be posting the first stages of Missy rose too.

This is the latest stage of Sammys Portrait. I have been working on this one over the last few days and its a large 24 x 18 and is looking quite dynamic so far. Hopefully it will be completed  by the end of the week.

The images below are the next portraits in our clients list. The portraits are in the general order in which we intend to start each portrait, however multiple portraits are in progress at any one time so postings of the work in progress of each may vary slightly. If we have arranged to meet a specific deadline, you can be confident that we will meet it, we have never missed a deadline yet.
