Filed Under All Work in Progress | Leave a Comment
Hi All,
The photos below show my further progress of the three dog portrait in oils. Its quite a large one at 20 x 16 and I have pretty much finished the first dog below, and I am now working on the dog in the bottom picture. I will post some more photos tomorrow as I will be working on it all day. Now the framing section fo the site is pretty much complete i can get back to working at my easel full time : )

Things have been very busy here in the studio, there have been changes a plenty and for the better we hope. Nick and i are now collaborating with a local framer to frame our pet portraits for us. We are primarily providing frames for the UK market but hope to expand this to the US next year.
An example frame hanging in our home
We have found a lovely framer in the Powys mountains, just over an hours drive from here who is not only providing us with frames but also mounts/matts and backing boards too. This means we can provide our portraits as ‘Frame Ready Portraits’ – with everything you need to place the portrait into a frame you have purchased from a shop or store. Alternatively you can take it to your local framer to be framed.
Frame Ready Portraits – this is one of Nicks pastels with the mount, backing and corner protectors
I have made a new section on my site with photos and information about the frames, how they are packaged etc and also a page about our framer too. You can visit this section of my website at the link below, and use the navigation on the left once you are there.

If you are interested in purchasing a portrait from either Nick or myself and would like to ask any questions about the frames don’t hesitate to email at any time : )

Horse Pet Portraits

This is an overall photo of the horse pet portrait. It is a pastel on velour to the size of 20 x 16. This isn’t quite the finished stage, i have a few more hours work yet, but it gives you an overall feel of how the portrait will be. I will take a final photo of the portrait soon and blog it for you all to see. The colours will be closer to the original in the final photo.

Double Horse Pet Portrait

This is the first two stages of one horse in a double horse pet portrait. The portrait is a pastel on velour to the size of 20 x 16. My client has ordered this portrait as a surprise 30th birthday gift as sadly the two horses are no longer with us and so im sure that it will be an emotional but wonderful gift.
Next stages coming soon!

Here is the final photos of the Greyhound portrait. I will add a photo in the next few days of this portrait when its framed. We now have a local framer who is framing our portraits for clients who would like to use this service.
As well as the framing service we now provide all pastel portraits ready mounted / matted using the highest quality Bainbridge mountboard, which is conservation quality and fade resistant. The mounts/matts are accompanied with conservation grade backing board. So if you would like to purchase a ready made frame from a shop or store, all of my portraits now arrive frame ready. I use standard sizes so it will be easy to frame them from now on.
I am in the process of a double head horse portrait and will blog these asap!

Here is the final photo of the persian cat pet portrait in pastel. it was a 12 x 10 portrait for a client to give as a gift to their bridesmaid, which i think was a wonderful idea.

Here you will find up to the minute news from the studio and see the pet portraits we are currently working on. You are more than welcome to contact us at any time!
All of the paintings you see on our blog are commissions from clients worldwide. We traditionally hand paint or draw every pet portrait ourselves. There's no digital trickery involved! We start by drawing out the image by hand and follow on with painting in oils, pastel or in pencil and you can follow each stage we make here on the blog on a daily basis.
