Melanies Pet Portraits

Hi Everyone,

This is the final scan of the spaniel pet portrait. The client wanted something similar to Chilli’s portrait in my gallery and so took some photos of her spaniel in a very similar pose. As you all know spaniels love water and so this is a perfect backdrop, especially considering the spaniel had also just been splashing in the water.

Im just finishing a lovely jack Russel and i will post that soon.

Here is the work in progress of the Collie Portrait. Wes was painted in oils on canvas to the size of 16 x 12. if you would like to read more about the commission and view a larger version of the final scan click on the image below to view my showcase blog!

Melanies Pet Portraits

Hi All,

Here is my latest portrait, its been finished a few days already and is nearly dry enough to post, having said that, posting anything at the moment is a bit of a sore issue with this postal strike we are having. I have a bunch of students work here and some portraits that have been piling up. I don’t think they are going to resume deliveries until next Thursday!

The cottage is still going well, the builders have finished the damp proofing, re-plastering the pine end and the chimney in fixed, which we are very pleased with. They just have to move an interior wall next week and we are done. Funny thing is the builder has 2 dogs and 4 horses so i think we are going to be painting them soon too! We have been clearing some logs in the garden and organising a space for my chicken shed which we hope to put in place in the spring. My parents are looking after everything until we can make the garden fox proof and its going to take a good few months. what with working as well there seems to be so much to do and not enough hours in the day!

I have just finished a spaniel pet portrait which i will blog a little later and i am half way through a gorgeous jack Russell in oils called Winston, he really is adorable so i will blog that sometime this week as well.

I hope that you all enjoyed your weekend and i will be back with more updates soon!

Melanies Pet Portraits

Hi Everyone,

Hers the gorgeous cats i have just completed. They have been on the go for quite a while. I drew and blocked them in about 6 weeks ago and they have been here half finished for a while. I have now completed them and am pleased with the results. The one on the right looks a lot like my cat. I painted them on fine grain canvas to the size of 16 x 12 in oils. This portrait is actually for a client in the UK which makes a nice change as the ruin of portraits i have been doing have been fro America and Canada of late.

The next to be completed is a collie in grass and then a Jack Russel which is currently on my websites work in progress. Ill blog the collie hopefully tomorrow! : )

Here is the final scan of Quinn as promised. She was painted to the size of 20 x 16 in oils on fine grain canvas. She is nearly dry and will be flying over the America next week to her owner. She is absolutely delighted with the portrait, and also has Quinns park friends approval so i am really pleased.

Things are still busy here and I have been working very hard over these past few weeks with the portraits. Its nice to be inside as the weather hasn’t been too nice here, its been very cold and rainy so i have been snug in the studio at my easel.

The cottage is coming along ok still, the internal partition wall should be nearly moved, the builders should be completely finished by the end of the week, so i need to do lots of cleaning this weekend and go shopping for a new carpet for the bedroom! Love shopping but the credit card isn’t so happy these days! : )

I have just finished two gorgeous cats so i will blog those a little later!

Here is the final scan of Sam and Molly in oils to the size of 16 x 12 for a client in the US. Its been a busy time here in the studio i have quite a few oils in the very final stages and i will be posting the Alsatian very soon.

All is going well at the new studio, we decided to make our own desks, so that we could custom make the sizes to fit in perfectly with the room, seeing as Ikea was hopeless at delivering! We have made pine desks, and took a quick trip down to Ikea for the legs as they make adjustable ones. Ikea is 90 miles away so it was quite a days trip there and back with a few hours looking around! We have nearly finished, just got to put Nicks desks up, the carpet is laid, the skirting is down and it will soon be ready to move into. Only another couple of weeks! : )

Ill be back with the Alsatian , some cats and a collie later on this week! Stay tuned!
