This is the final scan of ‘Moss’ the collie, for a client here in the UK. Moss was a delight to paint, the grass always being the most difficult as it does take a long time to achieve the right feel and look to it. I always like to add some ochres to tone down the grass as i feel it gives a more realistic and natural feel. The light was also very important and so when i blocked the background of Moss in, i worked all in one sitting to be able to blend the light colours and keep the background as soft as possible. I hope that you all enjoy this piece!

This is my latest pet portrait finished this week. I scanned him in this morning and the client has emailed me back straight away happy with the final scan which is great! Below are all my work in progress photos of the process. He will be ready to post out this week. I’m off to London for a few days next Thursday which i just cant wait for. Particularly after being ill this week it has been something nice to look forward to. I’m hopefully going to visit a few galleries, the Tate, The National and the Portrait Gallery are the obvious choice but i want to look out for a few more obscure galleries if i can. Also would like to go on the London Eye and the go to the cinema while im there too, so its going to be an exciting week. Ill blog my adventures when i return and also the final scan of this portrait in a bit!

This is the work in progress of Peanut a Beautiful Beagle. I really enjoy painting the darker backgrounds for this breed as it helps them stand out really well off the canvas. The final scan will be added shortly! I’m a little behind this week as i came down with a bug so had a few days off work, but im trying to catch up slowly!

Beagle Pet Portraits Final Scan
Filed Under All Work in Progress | 1 Comment
This is another of my most recent portraits of a beagle. Peanut was a pleasure to paint, the angle of the head gives an ahh aspect to the portrait and I enjoy painting the darker backgrounds behind beagles as it helps them stand off the canvas. I hope you all enjoy this one, i have another to follow shortly so stay tuned!

This is my most recent portrait of a beautiful Labrador called Bridger. The client took the photo in wonderful evening sunset which has cast a warm glowing light across the dog. The colours were very important in this portrait and I hope that i have captured the evening glow successfully.

This is one of my most recent pet portrait commissions of a beautiful Labrador called Bridger. The clients took the photo on a beautiful sunset evening which cast a wonderful warm glowing light which i felt was really important to capture in the painting. The photos below were taken throughout the process and hopefully will give you an idea of how the portrait developed!

Here you will find up to the minute news from the studio and see the pet portraits we are currently working on. You are more than welcome to contact us at any time!
All of the paintings you see on our blog are commissions from clients worldwide. We traditionally hand paint or draw every pet portrait ourselves. There's no digital trickery involved! We start by drawing out the image by hand and follow on with painting in oils, pastel or in pencil and you can follow each stage we make here on the blog on a daily basis.
