Pet Portrait Drawings
Filed Under All Work in Progress | 2 Comments
I have been pretty busy this passed week and a half since i blogged previously. I have drawn out quite a few oil paintings and blocked in the backgrounds, added three of them to my work in progress pages on my website and done my yearly accounts! Phew its been quite hectic!

I wanted to get the oils started so that they could be in their first stage of drying while i got on with my pencil portraits. I really enjoy completing pencil drawings and these three were a pleasure to do. Panda the cat was first to complete and then the Downhome Harrier which is a really rare bread. I feel i have been really privileged to get the chance to draw Wyatt, he was a great subject to tackle.
Then finally the lovely black lab. The clients are really pleased with their portraits and i will have to update my testimonials page on the website with my new work, i have some lovely photos to add too so keep an eye out for those.
I hope you enjoy these pet portraits and i will add the next completed piece here soon!

Happy New year! Rather a belated one admittedly, i am about a week behind schedule (good start to 2007!) i have been planning an overhaul to my website for a while now, it was getting very cluttered and i wasn’t happy with the greys and blues, i felt that it was too dull and cold, so it was time for a fresh start to 2007! I usually have a new look to the site each year, but my site is getting so big now, its a crazy task to go through each page and change it by hand, although i template the main areas the content needed changing, which is what i have just done, so i think it may stay like this for a while! I love redesigning though, its a really creative feel, starting with a blank page and adding the components to make an aesthetically pleasing page. I still have a few things to do on it, but i can do those as and when. The most important areas are online which is a relief.
I have a couple of new sections. I planned out a pet portrait tour, so that my new visitors to the site can see in a few steps how to order a pet portrait and what the process involves. I have also started a breeds gallery, im collating all my pictures and hopefully that will grow over the coming months. Its quite time consuming to collate so i thought id start with the more popular breeds and add more as the months go by.

Another new feature to my site is the addition of my husband Nick on my site! I thought it would be lovely to add him in there, although he has two sites of his own, a dog one and a horse one, it would be lovely to be able to give my clients the opportunity to have pastels as they really do suit some pets really well. Its particularly a good option for ones i cant do in coloured pencil, if the dogs are all black or all white. The work he’s producing is amazing so im really proud to have him on there.
I have been busy this week catching up also on my tutoring, i had quite a few to assess that got caught up in the Christmas post, and once i have completed those today, i then have to do my yearly accounts, ugg! At least i can get back to my easel now in the day time as i can save that job for the evenings! I have already put brush to canvas on a few portraits which i will be adding to my work in progress pages on Monday so ill blog again and let everyone know when they are there!
I hope that you all had a fantastic holiday and New Year and i wish everyone the best and success for 2007!

Here you will find up to the minute news from the studio and see the pet portraits we are currently working on. You are more than welcome to contact us at any time!
All of the paintings you see on our blog are commissions from clients worldwide. We traditionally hand paint or draw every pet portrait ourselves. There's no digital trickery involved! We start by drawing out the image by hand and follow on with painting in oils, pastel or in pencil and you can follow each stage we make here on the blog on a daily basis.
