Today I have finished the Jack Russell pet Portrait of Buddy and Little Man. I have enclosed a copy below and they will be flying over to America very soon!

See you all tomorrow!

The last few days have been very productive for me work wise, I have finished sugar, pictured below, I have also finished a small Jack Russell pencil drawing and am in the middle of a two head study pencil of two more Jack Russells. I tend to work on the pencils in the evening, as the light is better for the oils in the day. I have blocked in Charlie the Cockatiel and Baz the spaniel, Baz is such a gorgeous dog and pleasure to paint “ what a cutie!!

Recently I have taken some time out to paint and draw some of my own pets for my home and so i have spent a few hours today on a drawing of my own dog Ben. He is a collie dog and we have had him since he was a pup. Hes getting on in his years now and so we know that he wont be with us for many more years so i am taking as many opportunities that i can to take photos of him and draw him. He really hates his photo being taken, although bizarrely will be in the picture somewhere. If we are taking photos just generally, he will be there somewhere, but as soon as you point the camera to his face he runs away. Not though anything we have done, but just shy I guess!

I have taken a few hours today to organised my pet portrait commission and write client emails. I try to email clients back within 24 hours of them emailing, however often because my portraits are so time consuming i spend so many hours in the day at my easel i dont have time to write emails. I normally email clients in a block and catch up periodically.

Back to painting tomorrow!

I have now finished Freds pet portrait and scanned him in and uploaded him to the work in progress. I am leaving the Yorkie to dry till tomorrow and starting a pencil drawing, which will make a lovely change, from the oils I have been doing. Its sunny but cold here and the snow has gone from the mountains.

Still painting the Alsation here in the studio while the snow seems to keep falling outside. Have nearly completed this pet portrait and will post the final stage asap.

It has been snowing here today so i have been very happy in the studio as its much warmer in here than outside. I have been continuing on with the pet portrait of the Alsation and I will add more stages on its progress on the website soon

Enjoy!

Orion was finally dry enough to scan today. I have been looking at him over the passed few days and was unhappy with the harsh line of the middle ground, so today I scumbled some soft paint using the dry brush method over the middle area to soften and push back the fields. It has made a superb improvement to the painting. I am much happier with the results now and I have enclosed him below for you all to see.

The weather here in the UK has taken a turn for the worst, its pouring down as we speak with intermittent hail and they have been forecasting snow. Tomorrow I will be finishing the lab and also adding detail to the bull mastiff now on work in progress 3!

See you tomorrow!

Tuesdays painting went really well, I have pretty much finished the Alsatian now, and 3/4s of the way through and I have updated the work in progress pages with the photos. I will hopefully have completed it within a few days and will post the final scan here for all to see.

Enjoy!

Today has been bliss! My painting has gone well, im nearly finishing the Alsatian and my printer actually behaved today and printed 100 letterheads for a local builder. He commissioned Nick to paint about 8 portraits of their bungalows they build and so we also print letterheads, comp slips and vouchers. im not too sure how much longer we can print them, as our printer is very slow, although its a professional one, its very overworked. I think it will soon be time for them to print their own! At least we have started them off and got them on the rright track.
