Here is Nicks latest portrait to come off the easel. Its a bespoke size of 23 x 14 inches and overall mounted / matted it will be around 27 x 20 inches. I find this portrait very calming and it will hopefully be wending its way to the clients next week. They will be framing it themselves and I’m looking forward to seeing photos to see how it turns out. Portraits always look completely different when they are framed and when our clients frame them its always exciting to see the mouldings they choose.

This is Nicks latest portrait of two lovely and warm dogs by the fireplace. The customer supplied us with a variety of photos, single photos of each dog, and the fireplace with basket and tools and I created a composite so that they were all in the same portrait. I think the final portrait has come out great and each element fits well together.

Here is the final photo of the pastel Portrait of Paco. Its a 20 x 16 portrait and I will hopefully be taking it to the framers this week. It will be framed in the same moulding as the chocolate Labrador and that moulding is now nicknamed the Choc Lab moulding! I think it will be a popular design with our clients.
Tom did well in his training this morning and we finished it just in time before it poured down. He still barks and will do for a while, however the trainer is pretty sure he isn’t scared of the other dogs, she has been watching and monitoring him, we think he’s now just in the habit of barking. What’s wonderful its that the other people in our group have all gone through this before, most of them have said their dogs were the same and have all improved since they ahve been going to training. I think it will take a good couple of months but I will be relieved when he does stop as it will be a lot less stressful!

Chocolate Labradors Framed!
Filed Under Completed Dog Portraits, Framed Pet Portraits | Leave a Comment
Here is the Chocolate Labrador portrait Nick created a few weeks ago, I have taken some photos of Nick holding the portrait and some in the studio. Its pretty tricky to photograph such a large painting but hopefully you can see the beautiful frame! I absolutely adore this frame and there are two more in this range, one lighter and one darker. I think its going to be a popular one for our clients. We have also just taken photos of some more samples at our framers specifically for canvases and they are just wonderful. I hope that you like this portrait, its still up here in the studio along with the prints as our client is travelling up soon to collect it – hopefully we will have some photos of the handover for the website if they are happy to do so, I will keep everyone updated!

This is Nicks latest portrait to come off the easel and I’m hoping to take it to the framer this week. It will be framed in a honey coloured frame – which is a coincidence as the dog is called Honey! This is a 12 x 10 portrait for a client who has had a few portraits done by us, including a dedicated portrait of honey in pastel.

Here is the final scan of Toffee the Labrador in oils. He is now complete and ready to be framed and we are just deciding with the client which frame would be the most suitable for him. The portrait is a 12 x 10 so we don’t want anything too wide, but of course the rebate needs to be deep enough to encompass the edges. I will take photos of it when its framed.
As we have both been under the weather with this cold we decided to take the day off yesterday. I did a few emails first thing and then the computer stayed off all day, which is almost unheard of. It was lovely to have a break and we took a trip to the coat with Tom and had a picnic. The weather held for us which was lovely : )
Nick has started his next portrait of the cat called Rikki and I will be taking the next couple of weeks to work on our main website, making sure its in top form before the Christmas rush starts.

Here are the final photos of the family of lovely Chocolate Labrador. The portrait is around 24 x 14 and we will have the portrait professionally framed and mounted. We are hoping to visit the framer on Friday and we will be taking both the long cat portrait and this one to be framed. Nick has already started the Horse Portrait in oils, which is to be a wedding gift for the start of August. I will be posting stages when they are available.

Pastel Portrait Final Scan
Filed Under Completed Dog Portraits | Leave a Comment
This is a lovely portrait that Nick has just completed, he started it a few weeks ago and has just added the final details. Its part of a set of two portraits for a client in the US. We have created a portrait for her last year and she has now asked Nick to create two more for them. Nick is actually working now on the chocolate Labrador portrait and then will start the companion to this one after.

Here is the final photo of Tobi in oils. The sun has come out today, just in time for me to take photos of the painting as he wouldn’t have fitted in the scanner as its an 18 x 14 oil. Nicks started back on the large cat portrait in pastel so I will be posting a stage – possibly later today and tomorrow, final photo hopefully Tuesday.

Here you will find up to the minute news from the studio and see the pet portraits we are currently working on. You are more than welcome to contact us at any time!
All of the paintings you see on our blog are commissions from clients worldwide. We traditionally hand paint or draw every pet portrait ourselves. There's no digital trickery involved! We start by drawing out the image by hand and follow on with painting in oils, pastel or in pencil and you can follow each stage we make here on the blog on a daily basis.
