Bugs and paintings!

Hello Everyone!

I am a little behind with the blog as I have been under the weather with a bug. Started off being freezing cold but had no other signs other than being tired so I have been taking it a bit easy over the last week to recuperate. I have been pottering around the studio keeping things running doing mock-ups and emails. I’m feeling much better now so catching up with the blog and preparing to start the montage of Eleanor : )

Nick has been fine and working away at the painting of Jackie and Max so here are the stages so far…..! I’ll probably have another post over the weekend.

hi from South Africa I just love the painting so far ! Do you listen to music while painting and if so , what type of music?I can not paint or draw without music in the background. Hope you get well soon Melanie

Hi Lisa, Hello to South Africa! : ) Thank you, feeling better now. Yes we always listen to something here in the studio, we have headphones most often as we like different things. Nick listens to lots of podcasts and talky radio and i listen to all sorts of music and audio books. The new Black Keys album is pretty cool and I have just found ‘Jacks Mannequin’ who are pretty good too. Do you have a website? Melanie x

Hi Melanie, going through a bout of bronchitis at the moment so can sympathize with you. Glad you are feeling better though and back to work Loving Nick’s painting, it’s going to be fantastic!!

Nicks Client List
- Nick specialises in oil portraits of dogs, cats and horses and this is Nicks current client list.
  
  This will be a portrait for a previous client in the US of their cat called Ginny who recently passed away.
  
  This is Lockhart which Nick will paint on a 36 x 28 inch canvas oil on linen in April. Nick is really looking forward to painting Lockhart and I'm looking forward to seeing it come to life here in the studio.

- Our clients purchased a gift voucher webpage in 2011 and Nick will now be painting Sabre in oils on linen canvas as shown in the photo above.
24 x 20
- This will be a wonderful portrait of Jake which Nick is really looking forward to painting. The client has also ordered a giclee print of the painting when its complete too.
20 x 16
- Junior will be portrayed in oils on linen by Nick complete with the beautiful Bradford Pear in flower in the background.
10 x 10
- This will be a portrait for an English client in the US and they would like Nick to paint their lovely chocolate Lab Flag. The photo isn't confirmed as yet, it could be the image above but it might change as the portrait is a Christmas gift so the recipient can have final say!

- This is Pippin and I have just created a gift voucher webpage for the family as a surprise for the recipient to receive on their birthday on the 18th of January. Nick will be painting Pippin in oils and will replace the magazine with a cushion.

- This is Ben and Nick will be painting him in August 2012 in oils on Canvas for a birthday surprise.

- This will be an oil portrait of Ella commissioned as a surprise for a 50th birthday, size and photo yet to be confirmed. Nick is really looking forward to painting Ella, such a beautiful working cocker spaniel.

- These two lovely Spaniels are called Beasley and Pippa and they have been commissioned for a birthday surprise. We have sent the gift voucher for the special birthday in March and we hope its a wonderful surprise!
14 x 10
- This will be a lovely memorial portrait of siblings Ben and Jake. Nick will be painting them in oils on linen canvas with a graded taupe background.
24 x 20
- Meet Gir, full name Gir von Hause Milsped who sadly passed away recently. Nick will be painting him for the whole family to treasure and remember him by. We will be framing the portrait along with a plaque too.
16 x 12
- This is Buna and Nick will be painting him in August 2012 in oils on Canvas. Such a proud pose, this will be a wonderful painting.

- This is a surprise Christmas Gift for December 2012 for an oil painting which the client wishes to remain secret - just in case the recipient finds out : )

- This will be a portrait of Kaiber a lovely Rottweiler, photos to follow : )

- This will be a portrait of Ratty in oils on linen canvas.

- This will be a portrait of 2 horses in oils on linen canvas for a graduation Gift.

- We are really looking forward to this commission, Manu and Haka are absolutely stunning Rhodesian Ridgebacks who have sadly passed away. This portrait will allow all of the family to remember them and all of the lovely memories.

- Heres Lucy! Nick will be painting her just before Christmas and Lucy's owners will be taking more photos for the portrait in the coming months.

Melanie’s List
- The following commissions will be completed by myself (Melanie). I create all of the pencils and colour tint portraits.
  
  Here are two absolutely beautiful Flatcoated Retrievers, my favourite breed to portray, and they will be drawn in pencil very soon!

- This is going to be a portrait of Arthur and we were thrilled to be able to meet Arthur and his owners here at the studio. We also took photos of Arthur too and I will be drawing the photo above, really looking forward to getting started!

- This is going to be a portrait of Marcio and Red Boy for our first clients in Brazil. Its going to be for a birthday surprise and I hope to start very soon.

- This portrait will be of Topaz for a birthday surprise. Hoping to be on my drawing board very soon!

- This portrait will be a pencil drawing of Maverick & Goose. Photos to follow Goose has been very poorly. She is much better now though and we are just waiting for her fur to grow back before the clients take photos : )
