PET PORTRAITS

Commission a Portrait - by Melanie & Nicholas

Here is the final scan of the Dog Portrait in oils of Scrap and Ellen, Nick painted in on linen canvas size 22 x 16. We thought this was a good size, the extra couple of inches width really makes a difference when you are painting and landscape scene. I think the overall feel of this is very calming and relaxing and I hope it will look lovely in the clients home in situ. I have added it to our dog portraits website and you can see the portrait in more detail here - Scrap & Ellen >>

Nick has already started the next portrait of Cheeky and I will post the stages tomorrow!

The last portrait for overseas delivery has just been packed and its ready to go to the post office. We received our new lot of mailbags and this time we have bright purple!  We have different colours each time we order our mailbags and its wonderful, it really keeps things interesting. We have had apple green, pillar box red, deep purple..not the band! and now bright purple. I took a photo of it (and Tom) for the blog. Tom was under the packing table the whole time. He even gets strewn with bits of tape and ends of bubblewrap but he doesn’t seem to care!

Hopefully I will be adding a number of posts over the next couple of days. Nicks very nearly completed the portrait of Scrap and Ellen so ill add some photos and final scan and I have also completed the montage – which is packed in the parcel below, so ill blog that too. Back soon!

Here are the next stages of Scrap and Ellen and I should have some more stages tomorrow and a final scan of the Barcardi montage I have been working on. Went to the post office early this morning and sent off our second to last overseas portrait and the last will be sent tomorrow. The weather here in the UK is really bad at the moment, we have gailforce winds, its worse in Scotland so its nice to be in the warm of the studio today!

Here is Adam-Christian and Daisy and Charlotte all framed and ready now to pack this evening. The studio is a little dark so I had a few problems taking the photos but they are now on the website, on the gallery page, the inner linen slips page and on the framing page. This is a new moulding I can now make available to our clients and im sure it will be very popular : ) Off now to pack the portrait up.

Here are the first stages of Scrap and Ellen and Nick is currently painting on them as we speak. We have had a bit of a topsy turvy morning with some scheduled electricity stops while they work on the lines in our area but hopefully they have finished now. Amazing how you can rely on electricity to do everything for you! Back to work now and here are the stages : ) We have collected Adam-Christians portrait form the framers and I’m just about to take photos! New moulding - Stunning!

Here is the final scan of Shuttle. I have added Shuttles portrait to the website and you can see it in full here – Greyhound Racing Portrait >> We are absolutely thrilled with the way this painting has come out, Nick ‘s aim here was to create movement in the dog. The last thing we wanted was for it to be a static or clinical scene, so Nick has painted in such a way that the back legs are slightly out of focus to show motion and blur. He has also used broad energetic brush strokes for the ground to again create movement and not detract from the amazing look in Shuttle’s eye. The focus is definitely on the face and front legs, we feel Shuttle is almost jumping out of the canvas. We are taking the painting to the framers tomorrow and the prints are on order and I will blog photos when everything is back here and complete.

Here are the stages of ‘Shuttle Express’ Portrait. Nick is just adding the final touches today and I will hopefully scan the portrait in tomorrow and blog the final stage. Our client is ordering 10 prints three of which are going to be framed along with the original so we will be taking it to the framers asap. The prints are already on order, just have to send the artwork as the print company we use are extremely busy.

We are both working today, Nick has started Scrap and Ellen’s portrait and I’m working on Bacardi’s montage. Hope you all have a good Saturday!
