PET PORTRAITS

Artwork by Nicholas Beall & Melanie Phillips

Archive for August, 2011

The portrait of Rose is now framed and I have taken some photos this morning and put her in the framing section, her webpage and here for you all to see. The frame is really lovely, its our ‘Gallery Gold’ frame and it works so well with the oil portraits with dark rich colours. The client is hoping to come to the studio to collect the portrait, so fingers crossed we will get some nice photos when she arrives with Rosie : )

Its a holiday weekend here in the UK and we have a friend to stay who is helping us with some jobs in the cottage, so its all go here. I’m pottering around in the studio, catching up on some jobs and catering for the hungry men working hard. We will be back to work mid week next week and I will blog Nicks next stage of his painting – and my stages of Sparkys portrait too!

The plaques arrived yesterday and so I have taken some photos fo them today and also collated other plaques we ahve had done and create a page about it in our framing section. Pet Portraits Plaques >> I have also added a section there on the stands we have for the frames too as they are being requested more, so they have a section of their own with lots of lovely images too Stands for portraits >>

I have also added the wedding portrait to our family portraits gallery. I have been meaning to add this one for a while and as I’m on my last day of updates its now there for everyone to see - wedding portraits paper anniversary >>  Wedding portraits and first paper anniversary portraits have been quite popular and Nick enjoys doing these. A very personal and unique gift too.

Pickles portrait was added next in the pencil portrait gallery and you can see a larger version of Pickle, the portrait framed, the reference photos and some of the emails the clients sent when they had received the portrait. Pickle’s Portrait >>

Next I have added Rosie’s portrait to the gallery too! Its over on our dog portrait site, and similar to Pickle’s page above I have added the reference photos of Rosie, stages, testimonials etc and you can see her here - Rosies Portrait >> I am hoping to collect Rosie’s portrait form Jane tomorrow and will psot that as soon as I have takne photos.

….and last but not least…todays stage of Sally and Pheobe!

I have been working at the computer all day today as there have been lots of things needing updating on the website. The main one is our new and updated contact details. A little while ago we added a new telephone number, a mobile, so that when we were out and about we could still accept calls from clients where ever we were.  So to follow on from the new phone number, we now have a new updated PB Box address. The mail comes direct to our studio from a local sorting office, rather than our old one we had which we had to collect mail at a further away office. All of our business mail will now come via our new address which is as follows!

I have updated our contact pages with our new details and also updated the footers of our websites with our contact details and all of the different way you can contact us via social media – facebook, twitter and blog.  Its taken most of the day to desing it the way I wanted it and then update everything, however im pleased with the results. Amazing how long these things take.

I have a few more updates to make to the gallery tomorrow and then the websites are pretty much organised. I’m so pleased that I am up to date with them – nearly! Tomorrow I need to update the framing page as the new plaques arrived today so I need to take photos and add add them a separate section for clients to view.

Here’s a stage from the Sally and Phoebe portrait and I will have another stage tomorrow too and hopefully photos of Rosie’s portrait as I’m off to collect it from Jane the framer first thing.

I have been working on a montage drawing over the last few weeks and I have added it below. As soon as I hear back from the client I will take it to the framers. The client is also having a print of part of the drawing and there will be plaques for this one too, will explain more when the portrait and print are framed.

Off to an exhibition opening this evening which we are both looking forward to. Jane our framer is exhibiting some of her artwork along with a few other people we know so hoping for a good evening. Enjoy your weekend!

Chloe and Jak are now framed and they have been packed up and are sent off to the client already, should be arriving on the 29th of September! Fingers crossed in time to give as a lovely birthday surprise and we all hope the recipient is thrilled.

As you can see the portrait has been framed under non reflective glass in the Charcoal Skane moulding  - a beautiful dark moulding where you can see the subtle wood grain in the moulding itself. It looks very classy and we love it. You can see more images of this portrait framed in our framing section on our website.  Jane our framer is now also using FSC certified stickers which you can view in the photo at the bottom of this post. If you would like to read more about FSC Certified Wood, read about it in our framing information section on our website FSC Certified Wood for our Frames >>  I have also added Chloe and Jak onto our main websites pencil portrait too – Chloe and Jaks portrait page >>  and its lovely to see them in there.

Nick has already started Sally and Phoebes portrait and I have now completed the montage of Holden for a deadline so I will post Holden next and Nicks portrait next week. I have also started Sparky and I must post that too!

We have received some wonderful photos from three sets of clients this week and so I will add them all below with infromation about each : )

The first email to arrive was from our lovely clients who ordered the cat portrait of Barney and Zorro. It was for a birthday surprise and you can see the recipient with her cats and the painting hanging on the wall below and on our main testimonials page too – Barney and Zorrow >>

Here is Naomi with her portrait of Missy, and Missy in the top photo. I Created a tinted portrait for Naomi about a month ago and Naomi very kindly took some photos which I have also added to the testimonials page – Missy’s Portrait >> I loved creating this portrait as it allowed me to create a pencil portrait, which I love, but also add a hint of colour for Missy’s eyes.

Last but certainly not least is the recent portrait I did of Pickle for some previous clients. The photos below show all of the portraits together on the wall and the latest portrait I did for them of Pickle is the bottom picture. I have updated the photos on their testimonial page too Pickle >> I have one more portrait to complete for them of their current dog Flo-Jo however they are running out of wall space! I’m thinking of getting them a bit of extra income and arranging gallery viewings for a fee at their door ; )

I have now scanned Rosie’s portrait and added it below for all to see. I hope to add it to the website soon. We have also recieved some wonderful photos from cleints for our testimonials page which I will also post soon too!

Here are the first few stages of Rosie’s portrait. Nick is coming along really well with it and I think this will be quite a dramatic portrait. The clients who visited the studio yesterday loved it.

Tom is now on the behaviourists website. Peter Mounsey >> I have been unable to add a link direct to the page as its a fairly old fashioned site in frames so you will need to go to recent clients in the navigation and then click on Tom to read it. Peter has a new site on its way soon which I’m looking forward to seeing.

More great news, our cleint has just won a sixth place rosette for best short coat at a companion dog show with their dog Chewy which you can see in the navigation on the left. Well Done Chewy!

Here is the final scan of the pencil portrait of Chloe and Jak, hopefully wending its way to the framer on Tuesday!

We have had clients visiting all day today, we have had a lovely day with them and their 6 dogs. We have created portraits for them before and I am drawing their 4 new dogs – adding them to a large montage portrait that I have already created. Will blog it as soon as I start as its going to be really interesting. Loved all of their beautiful dogs, they rescue and so we had long conversations about Tom and how he has been getting on as they are very experienced dog owners. We then walked Tom with their little black toy poodle Levi who is now 13 (I first met him about 8 years ago) gorgeous dog and did well walking with Tom. Or should I say Tom did well walking with him : )

Nicks still painting Rosie, and I will blog all of the stages tomorrow.
