Ellie’s Oil Painting…..

These are the next stages of Ellie’s Oil Portrait. Its about midday here and so one of the photos was taken yesterday and the other this morning when Nick had just started work. It was actually sunny thismorning and I plantd out the runner beans but its coming over cloudy now. I have heard through we are in for some lovely weather in June…I am looking forward to it! : )  I will post the next stage of Nicks portrait either later on today or early tomorrow. Hope you are all having a good day.

Here are some more shots of Ellie’s portrait and it has been progressing well. The bottom photo was a stage from yesterday but the latest stage is the first image below. This is as it is on Nicks easel as we speak.

Its lunch time here and the roast is in the oven and we are off to light the fire. The sun is trying to come out, its a bit brighter in the studio, hope to get a dog walk in during the dry this afternoon!

Hope you all have a good Sunday!

Up early again today even though its Sunday we have lots to do this morning, so that we can have a couple of hours by the fire this afternoon. I can only say that I am so glad we took time off when we did when the weather was nice to get the jobs done outside. It feels positively like autumn here now, not like summer at all! If someone told me that it was October I would believe them. The temperatures are very cold and you cant really go out to walk the dog without a waterproof and woolly jumper. We have had the fire alight every afternoon from about 12ish over the last few days, and now we have changed the ceiling the heat filters nicely up to the studio between the floorboards. There is certainly no drought here that some have reported in the south and south east of the UK, its raining as I type!

Nick has been working on the painting of Ellie since Friday and these are the stages I have so far. There are a couple more stages in the camera which I will blog a bit later and I will take some as he is working on it this morning too so we are up to date here. Ill be back later!

The first client photos of the day to blog are of a portrait we completed in December 2010 and the recipient has very kindly taken some photos for us below and emailed them to us this week. I have added the photos below and also added it onto our website here – ‘Tony Bull & Nothing Left To Prove‘  We are thrilled to see the painting displayed in pride of place along with their winning rosettes and trophies. Final Scan of Oil Pet Portrait Painting

Feeling much better today but have been trying to get a big caught up here in the studio as I’m a day behind. Packed up a portrait and nipped it to the post office this morning as I hadn’t realised that we have another bank holiday Monday this coming Monday so its a public holiday here. The portrait is to be given on Tuesday so I opted for a fast Saturday delivery. Fingers crossed it all arrives safely.

Here, also as promised is the final scan of Reggie along with a detail of  the painting. Nick has already started Ellie’s portrait and I have taken one photo already so ill post them tomorrow. We also have some lovely client photos to post too!

If any of our clients in our list are thinking of having their painting framed when their time comes, our framer has a new range of mouldings which we have used on our latest horse portrait. They come in three colours, Charcoal with a hint of brown which we have used below, Wenge which is a rich walnut and Natural which is a light honey colour. The finish on them is so smooth and silky to the touch and it looks stunning – the perfect width for our small to medium sizes portraits.  I have already added this particular framed painting into our framing section and hope to use the Wenge on Lucy’s portrait so will add that too when its framed. Framing Pet Portraits section >>

Nick is still working hard on Reggie’s portrait and i will add some more stages tomorrow!

Isn’t this a wonderful photo! Mary commissioned a portrait of her daughter-in-law and their beloved dog Dottie as a special gift for her son who has just received his doctorate. The portrait was commissioned back at the start of the year so the secret had to be kept until the  special day. I am delighted that we could contribute to the day and also provide them with something they can cherish for many years to come.

We also have a new contact number for our business which can be found on our contact page. We have invested in a new up to date mobile as our old one was a complete dinosaur and couldn’t do half the things that people seem to do on them these days without a thought! All of our cards and flyers are out of date now of course, but we feel that by having a mobile number as our main contact we will be more likely to catch clients calls as a mobile will always be with us, whereas our static phone is wired to the corner of the studio : ) We are often out walking Tom or at the post office when clients telephone us and previously we would have to either call them back or wait for them to call us as we wouldn’t want to ruin any surprises by ringing out of the blue. So hopefully this will alleviate the problem. It also means I can do emails on the fly, although I haven’t paid for 3g, I can wander around the cottage emailing clients, adding things to our facebook business page, or twitter account to my hearts content! Quite a novelty! Clients can also text message us at any time or contact us via skype on it too so if you are overseas and want to chat just let me know.
