This is my latest portrait in oils on canvas. I painted her to the size of 24 x 20 and she was a joy to portray. The photo was fabulous which really helps and i enjoyed creating the soft fur blending it into the background. These are my favourite colours too, i love to paint neutral tones and warm browns so this has been one of my favoruites to paint. The client was over the moon and also had two prints of her portrait via the company i use for printing in the US too. I hope you enjoy vewing it as much as i have painting it!

Here are three very early stages from my latest pet portrait. It is a 24 x 20 oil on canvas of an Alsation. She was a beautiful dog to paint and portray, i really enjoyed depicting her soft fur and the client was delighted. I am really pleased with the outcome and i will hopefully be adding it to my website soon. I hope you enjoy the work in progress and details below and if you would like to view how the final stage looks and a high res scan take a look at my next post!

Stages one – three of the portrait. View my next post for the link to see the final scan on my showcase blog.

I have recently completed a pet portraits commission for a client who wanted to depict her three pets as a logo for her photography business. This is a fantastic opportunity for clients as they can not ony have their portrait on their wall, but also use it in a variety of ways for their business stationary. The work in progress of the commission is below which includes a couple of close ups of the portrait. It was created in coloured pencil to the size of 16 x 12.

Well it has been so long since i blogged, and i know im always saying it! I never seem to get the time to get everything done around the studio these days. However i have made a real effort this weekend and i have done some major updates to my pet portraits website. I know…i can see you are all falling off your seats as you read this. I haven’t updated my site for so long and i have to admit its been a little neglected.

First i had to update nicks section as he’s getting on really well with his pastel commissions, so i added those. I then have been meaning to remanoeuvre some galleries that i didn’t feel worked any longer, so i just streamlined things a little for my visitors and generally tidied areas of the site up a bit.

I have also made a new section, which i have been meaning to do for about a year, for selling prints. My original section for prints of clients portraits is updated and can be accessed via my top navigation in online shop and prints. Within this section i have also added my fairy paintings available as giclees as well. They all have buy now buttons, can be purchased in two currencies, and there are three sizes are available for each print and you can click on them for larger versions. I have also written some have background text about each painting.

As well as updating the navigation throughout the website i think that’s enough to have kept me busy for a couple of days!

Here as promised is the final scan of the pet portrait logo and the final logo selected by the client. If you visit my pet portraits work in progress blog you will see how this portrait progressed from the drawing stage to the final stages. I then scanned the portrait making sure that the background was totally white for printing and created 4 logos to choose from. I have allowed the client full use of all the logos for her business. I’m looking forward to seeing them on her stationary soon. I hope that you enjoy viewing this portrait and i will blog my next portrait soon.
