PET PORTRAITS

This is my latest pet portrait, its a 16 x 12 oils on canvas for a client in the US. I have completed another portrait for their family so it was a recommendation which is always fantastic. The head slightly on the side was very important to capture here, although the scan of the black fur hasn’t come out as subtle as it is in the original.

Here is a final scan of Islay a beautiful spaniel i completed in coloured pencil. The client already owns one of my portraits, last year i drew their pointer Homer and now this completes their set! I drew Islay on Italian Fabriano paper to the size of 20 x 16. I hope that you enjoy it!

Here is the final scan of Abigail! As I mentioned in the work in progress blog she was an absolute joy to paint, I wanted to capture the light in this painting as she was sitting in the sunshine in the garden. Hopefully this comes through in my work. She was painted on a 16 x 12 fine grain stretched canvas in oils and will hopefully be posted out to the clients this week. I have been quite busy this last week and i have also completed a black Labrador which i will post asap!

Here’s Abigail painted on fine quality stretched canvas to the size of 16 x 12. This was a wonderful portrait for me to paint, it really made a change from the canine paintings I have been working on and Abigail is such a sweet rabbit to paint. I had a lot of fun! I wanted to capture the light in this one as she was sitting in the sunshine in the garden in the grass and i felt this was important to capture in the painting.  I have also nearly finished a Black Labrador called Samantha which i will blog shortly. I have been working non stop on my paintings at the moment, i had a really great weekends work, the weather has been awful here so its been an absolute pleasure to stay in doors in the warm! :)

Here is my pet portrait final scan of Quincy an English Springer Spaniel owned by Chuck Lennon USA. Quincy was painted on the finest stretched canvas to the size of 10 x 8 and was a joy to paint. I wanted to capture quincys fine soft fur, particularly on the top of his head and around his muzzel as i felt that this was a big part of his character. His eyes are so appealing too so i hpe that i ahve captured those well. The client is over the moon and the portrait will be on its way to him next week. I hope that you all enjoy vieing it as much as i have painting it.

This is my latest spaniel painting. it was a 10 x 8 oil on canvas of Quincy owned by chuck in the USA. Quince is a black and white English Springer Spaniel with a really soulful look in his eyes. I wanted to capture the softness on the top of his head and around his muzzle as this was a big part of his character. The owners are extremely pleased and i hope to post him to them early next week! The final scan will follow shortly!

Here’s my latest pet portrait of two gorgeous and quite sad looking spaniels. This pet portrait didn’t have work in progress on my website or other blog, the same as Izzy in my previous post. As you know I have been slightly under the weather so to make life a little easier I didn’t take any photos for these. This portrait is for a returning client and is for a birthday at the end of March so hopefully it will be dry in time to post. Luckily the client is almost local to me so short deadlines aren’t so problematic! I hope you enjoy this painting!

Wow its been so long since i have blogged my new oils paintings and this is becoming a bit of a theme isn’t it! I have been trying my hardest to keep to my schedule this last month, and i have completed a few pet portraits which i am about to put online for you all to see. A couple of them don’t have work in progress but from now on they will. I saw the end of Feb off with a nasty bug and so that had me laid up for a few days. We had already planned for a trip to London and luckily i was recovered for our trip. We had a wonderful time, visited the main galleries, went on the London Eye and saw Hot Fuzz in the same west end cinema it premièred in (absolutely fantastic by the way). Unfortunately we both caught nasty colds from my little nephew while we were there and have been suffering ever since! We are gradually getting back to normality – hence being now able to get back to taking photos at various stages of my pet portraits, updating my website and adding my new pet portraits to the blog! :)

So here is a Bull Terrier thats now pretty much dry and will be posted to the client next week. She is called Izzy and is very regal and beautiful dog. The clients are over the moon so im really pleased. Ill blog the spaniels next!
