This stage feels better as im adding the colours of the dogs now and they are looking more ‘sheltie like’!

Stage three, because this portrait is a large size its taking more time to block in the main colours, making sure i keep the lines of the original drawing underneath.

Stage Four im adding the lighter colours, as we work form dark to light in oils.

Stage three is about deepening colours within the dog and starting to add detail.

Stage one of the process, drawing out the dog and blocking in the background. my client specifically asked for the background to be a greeny colour, i think its quite popular colour for backgrounds as its very neutral.

fun with fungi!

We found some amazing fungi on the old tree thats been cut down outside out house, we had a big old tree in our yard, it must have been around 200 years old but unfortunately it died two years ago. It has now got some wierd and wonderful fungi growing on it, i just had to photograph it! The photos below dont really do them justice but it was the shapes that interested me. They were really quite slimy too! If anyone knows what kind of fungi they are let me know!

Nicks Client List
- Nick specialises in oil portraits of dogs, cats and horses and this is Nicks current client list.
  
  This is a gorgeous little dog called Bella which Nick will paint in February 16 x 12 in oils.

- This portrait will be of a dearly departed dog called Sable which Nick will paint in oils on linen at the end of February.
10 x 8
- This portrait will be an oil painting on cotton canvas. The clients ordered a gift voucher for a 50th birthday to remember their wonderful horse Tango and Nick will be painting Tango at the end of February.
18 x 14
- This portrait will be a n 18 x 14 oil painting on linen canvas of Max a beautiful Australian Labradoodle. The client is purchasing a portrait for her husband as a Christmas gift and Nick will be painting Max at the start of March.

- This is Chester and Minnie and they will be painted in separate portraits Mid March.
24 x 18
- This portrait is going to be a wonderful portrait of Madison in Central Park, New York in oils on linen canvas.

- This is Chance and he will be painted in oils In April.

- Here is Millie and she is going to be painted in oil on linen at 12 x 10 size. The client was given a gift voucher for Christmas last year and will be receiving their portrait in April.

- This is Lockhart which Nick will paint on a 36 x 28 inch canvas oil on linen in April. Nick is really looking forward to painting Lockhart and I'm looking forward to seeing it come to life here in the studio.

- This is going to be a portrait for a previous client in the UK of their lovely dog Digit. We will be painting him in oils on canvas and framing him too.

- This will be a portrait for a previous client in the US of their cat called Ginny who recently passed away. Her portrait will hang proudly next to their dog Missy Rose which we painted for them a few years ago. We will be painting Ginny in oils on linen canvas.

- This will be a portrait for an English client in the US and they would like Nick to paint their lovely chocolate Lab Flag. The photo isn't confirmed as yet, it could be the image above but it might change as the portrait is a Christmas gift so the recipient can have final say!

- This will be a wonderful portrait of Jake which Nick is really looking forward to painting. He has lots of lovely photos to work with and I'm looking forward to seeing the stages develop in 2012!

- Our clients purchased a gift voucher webpage in 2011 and Nick will now be painting Sabre in oils on linen canvas as shown in the photo above.

- This is Amy and she will be portrayed by Nick very soon! Doesn't she look happy!

- This is Pippin and I have just created a gift voucher webpage for the family as a surprise for the recipient to receive on their birthday on the 18th of January. Nick will be painting Pippin in oils and will replace the magazine with a cushion.

- Junior will be portrayed in oils on linen by Nick at 24 x 18 size and our client will be taking new photos for the background when the spring arrives so we can have a lovely photo of the Bradford Pear in leaf, or even in flower.

- This will be an oil portrait of Ella commissioned as a surprise for a 50th birthday, size and photo yet to be confirmed. Nick is really looking forward to painting Ella, such a beautiful working cocker spaniel.
22 x 16
- These two lovely Spaniels are called Beasley and Pippa and they have been commissioned for a birthday surprise. We have sent the gift voucher for the special birthday in March and we hope its a wonderful surprise!
14 x 10
- This will be a lovely memorial portrait of Siblings Ben and Jake. Nick ill be painting them in oils on linen canvas with a graded taupe background.
24 x 20
- Meet Gir, full name Gir von Hause Milsped who sadly passed away recently. Nick will be painting him for the whole family to treasure and remember him by. We will be framing the portrait along with a plaque too.
16 x 12
- This is a surprise Christmas Gift for December 2012 for an oil painting which the client wishes to remain secret - just in case the recipient finds out : )

- This is Buna and Nick will be painting him in August 2012 in oils on Canvas. Such a proud pose, this will be a wonderful painting.
Melanie’s List
- The following commissions will be completed by myself (Melanie). I create all of the pencils and colour tint portraits. I also carry out the main running of our business and design and maintain our websites and blog.
18 x 14
- This will be a pencil portrait of Four Jack Russells, Monty, Cocoa, Daisy and Nelson. I hope to be starting very soon!

- This portrait will be a montage of three cats - Percy, Fudge and Figgy - details of size and composition to follow.
15 x 9
- I am really looking forward to drawing Pickle who is an Irish wolfhound x collie for a birthday surprise on the 24th of April. The photo was taken in landscape format and so I have created the mockup so the portrait can be 15 x 9 framed with the charcoal skane frame and I think its going to look fabulous!

- This portrait will be a pencil drawing of Maverick & Goose. Photos to follow Goose has been very poorly. She is much better now though and we are just waiting for her fur to grow back before the clients take photos : )

- Here are two absolutely beautiful Flatcoated Retrievers, my favourite breed to portray, and they will be drawn in pencil very soon!
Gift Vouchers
- Vouchers for 2011 - 2012
  Clients who have ordered a gift voucher or a gift webpage between 2011 and 2012 will be held in our client list here and as soon as clients confirm their photos with us, their portraits will be moved to our main cleint lists above.
Arthur Voucher
- This is going to be a portrait of Arthur in pencil, and the voucher was given as a wedding gift. The clients will be visiting our studio hopefully in early March to arrange everything.
Cletus Voucher
- This portrait will be of Cletus, a black and white, parti-colored Cocker-Spaniel. Our client ordered a framed 14 x 10 oil portrait as a surprise 40th Birthday gift. We are just waiting for photos and as soon as we have them I will add them above!
Horse Voucher
- We sent a gift voucher to a client in the UK so that the recipient could have one..or maybe more of his horses painted in 2012. We are just waiting for photos and we will create a mockup!
Jack Voucher
- This is going to be a lovely portrait of Jack for a family in the US. I have created them a gift voucher webpage so the recipient can view it on Christmas day and we look forward to working with them in 2012!
Barkley Voucher
- We sent a gift voucher to a client in the USA so that the recipient could have a portrait of their dog called Barkley. We look forward to working with them in 2012!
